Thanks to the generous support of our donors and sponsors, Travel grants will be awarded for young African Post-docs, PhD-students and Resident/ Trainee doctors under 35 years of age requesting financial support to attend the FAIS 2017.
The American Association of Immunologists (AAI) will support up to 10 travel grants for young African Immunologists. Applications from women are encouraged. The travel grants will provide up to $500 USD each to help cover accommodation and travel costs.
The European Federation of Immunological Societies (EFIS) will also award 10 travel grants of EUR 500 each to eligible European-based researchers seeking support to attend the congress, to be reimbursed after the meeting and submission of supporting documents.
The Tunisian Society of Immunology will offer 25 scholarships of 400 TND to cover accommodation costs for 25 Tunisian students.
Application deadline is April 30, 2017. Successful applicants will be notified of their award by the end of May 2017
Please note that travel grants will serve to cover accommodation and travel (for African participants) costs. African successful applicants will receive their electronic Air-Ticket in accordance with the reservation they have previously approved and will find, as for Tunisian successful applicants, their standard accommodation costs (4 nights in a double room shared with another participant) covered. All additional costs will be supported by the participants.
As specified above, EFIS grants will be reimbursed directly to awardees after the congress.
In any case, applicants will be expected to pay for their registration fees and, as such, it is recommended to take advantage of the very low early bird rate!
To be eligible for a travel grant, the applicant must be the presenting author of a submitted abstract. The applicant must also be a member of a FAIS member society and must be based in an African country, or - for EFIS grants - a member of an EFIS-affiliated Society and working in Europe. Applicants from countries with no Immunological society yet or whose admission in FAIS/IUIS is in progress can be accepted.
To apply, please first submit an abstract via the online abstract submission system on the FAIS congress website and then go to Ask for a Travel grant to submit your CV, letter of recommendation and proof of membership in your national society. Applicants for EFIS travel grants will be re-directed to www.efis.org to complete the application process.
