FAIS member Faith Osier was recently interviewed for Nature Careers. Faith is the the first African and second woman to be elected president of the International Union of Immunological Societies (IUIS), will begin her three-year term in October.
Faith has been spearheading the FAIS Legacy Project (FLP) which aims to train 1,000 African PhD students in 10 years. So far FLP has received US$50,000 in seed money to fund the first phase of the project from the International Union of Immunological Societies (IUIS). FLP has given each of 10 African students $5,000 to finish the final year of their PhD in international labs.
