Opportunity: Build Your Science Policy Skills with the ISC–INGSA Training Programme

The International Science Council (ISC), in partnership with the International Network for Governmental Science Advice (INGSA), has launched a new training programme designed to help researchers and scientific organisations strengthen their engagement at the science–policy interface.

As scientific evidence plays an increasingly important role in addressing global challenges, researchers are often called upon to communicate their findings to policymakers. This programme equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to translate research into evidence-informed policy and contribute more effectively to public decision-making.

The programme includes:

  • Self-paced online learning modules covering science advice, policymaking processes, and the science–policy interface.
  • Interactive webinars featuring leading international experts and practitioners.
  • Real-world case studies exploring topics such as crisis response, public trust, and transboundary challenges.
  • Opportunities to connect with a global network of scientists and policy professionals.

This opportunity is particularly relevant for:

  • Early-career researchers seeking to develop new professional skills.
  • Mid-career scientists aiming to increase the policy impact of their research.
  • Leaders of scientific societies, academies and research institutions looking to strengthen their organisations’ engagement with evidence-informed policymaking.

FAIS encourages members interested in translating scientific evidence into meaningful health and research policy to explore this valuable professional development opportunity.
